SpaceX was founded in 2002 by Elon Musk. The goal being to reduce space travel cost and colonize Mars. SpaceX has made many historic milestones. Because of these milestones, the company has gained worldwide fame. SpaceX has delivered cargo to the international space station. No other commercial space flight has done that before. SpaceX is the only private company that can return a spacecraft from low earth orbit. In 2017 SpaceX also achieved the first re-flight of an orbital class rocket. SpaceX has over 6000 people working for them. They have 3 vehicles and has had over 100 launches with them. In 2018, SpaceX began launching Falcon Heavy, the world’s most powerful operational rocket by a factor of two. SpaceX has offices in Washington, Virginia, Washington dc., and Texas. SpaceX’s headquarters is in california. SpaceX also has three launch sites across the US. One in California, another in Texas, and even one in Florida. SpaceX’s Falcon 9 costs Sixty Two million dollars for transportation of cargo and can carry 22,800kg (50,265lbs) to Low Earth Orbit (LEO), 8,300kg (18,300lbs) to Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO), and can carry a payload of 4,020kg (8,860lbs) all the way to Mars. The Falcon Heavy costs Ninety million dollars for transportation of cargo and can carry 63,800kg (140,660lbs) to Lower Earth Orbit (LEO), 26,700kg (58,860lbs) to Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO), and can carry a payload of 16,800kg (37,040lbs) all the way to Mars. One study, by NASA, estimated that the price tag for going from the initial design stages of the Falcon 9 rocket to its first flight was $440 million, about a third of what it would have cost NASA. SpaceX has only had two failures. That's out of 50. So forty-eight out of fifty launches have been successful. That's a ninety-six percent success rate. While with one hundred ninety launches NASA has a ninety-eight percent success rate. Overall the spacex with enough investment and support could potentially colonize Mars and make it possible;e for average people live on mars. With people living on mars it could potentially help with overpopulation issues.
